Book an Experience

  • Each participant can choose one of three different blown glass objects: a drinking glass, a fruit bowl, or a flower vase. You’ll get to choose up to two colors for your piece.

  • All participants must be properly attired: closed-toed shoes, natural material clothing, long hair pulled back, and no loose fitting garments or draping sleeves. Safety gear will be provided by the instructor, as will a brief safety orientation before beginning the class.

    Participants should arrive fed/hydrated and ready for strenuous activity. It is highly recommended you bring your own water bottle, which can be refilled onsite.

    Please plan on arriving ~10mins ahead of time to ensure you find the building and parking.

    Anyone appearing to be under the influence of drugs/alcohol will not be allowed to participate.

  • Each class has spots for up to 4 individuals. For larger groups please reach out via email to hickoryhotglass@gmail.com.

  • Finished pieces can be picked up the next day from the studio, or during the week by appointment.

    Shipping is available by request at the time of the class for an additional fee.

    Unclaimed pieces will be held for 2 weeks or longer by special request.

  • Any person over the age of 14 can participate in a Glassblowing Experience! If under 18, you’ll need the sign-off of a parent/guardian who must be present at the class.

    If you have a disability or condition that may impact your ability to fully participate, please email rob@hickoryhotglass.com before your class to coordinate accommodations.

  • You can cancel your class up to 48 hours before the time listed for a full refund.

  • HHG is located at 216 10th St. NW in Hickory. Access is from 3rd Ave NW ONLY. Some maps may tell you to use 2nd Ave to get to 10th St. NW. Don’t do it. For a handy map, check out the Contact page here.

Are you feeling creative? Can you hear the roar of the furnace? Feel the heat of the glass and the sweat on your brow? Maybe you’re just looking for the perfect gift for that artsy relative. However you got here, you’re in for a treat.

With the unique Glassblowing Experience, you’ll get to put your creativity and curiosity to the test. Join me in the shop for a semi-private lesson where you’ll get one-on-one direction for creating your very own work of blown glass art. Choose your design and color, melt the glass, inflate it, and shape the molten blob to become a masterpiece. No prior training needed. It’s a magical experience that you’ll get to remember every time you look at you one-of-a-kind work of art.

All glass must slow-cool overnight in our annealing ovens and finished pieces can be picked up the next day or shipped for an additional fee. Classes are limited to 4 people at one time.
